Job summary

Global Gourmet Catering in San Francisco is seeking a Seasonal Equipment Manager to support our busy event season. This onsite, hourly role oversees all company-owned and rental equipment before, during, and after events, ensuring smooth operations behind the scenes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of catering, banquet, hospitality, or event production experience.
  • Experience with catering equipment, event setup, breakdown, and logistics.
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic math skills for inventory and event logistics.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, organize, and stage equipment for catering events.

  • Direct loading and unloading of equipment trucks.

Position Summary

Global Gourmet Catering is seeking a Seasonal Equipment Manager (EQ) to support our busy event season. This onsite, non-exempt (hourly) position is responsible for organizing, staging, distributing, maintaining, and overseeing all company-owned and rental equipment before, during, and after catering events.

This role is ideal for someone with catering, banquet, hospitality, or event production experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys leading operational logistics behind the scenes.

Responsibilities
Event Logistics & Equipment
  • Prepare, organize, and stage equipment for catering events.
  • Inventory, distribute, and track company-owned and rental equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment staging areas and vendor depots.
  • Direct loading and unloading of equipment trucks.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly packed, stored, and returned after events.
Event Operations
  • Read and execute Event Detail Sheets (EDS) and Equipment Pack Lists (EPL).
  • Adapt equipment layouts and staging plans as event timelines change.
  • Communicate with event teams using handheld radios to ensure efficient operations.
  • Set up coffee stations, test brewing equipment, and prepare coffee service.
  • Maintain bussing, compost, recycling, and equipment collection areas throughout events.
Team Leadership
  • Provide guidance to event staff on equipment handling, packing, cleaning, and breakdown procedures.
  • Participate in pre-event meetings and support efficient event execution.
  • Assist in maintaining service standards throughout each event.
Inventory, Maintenance & Safety
  • Monitor equipment for damage, loss, or maintenance needs.
  • Maintain clean, organized equipment and staging areas.
  • Complete post-event cleanup and equipment recovery.
  • Follow company safety procedures and use emergency equipment when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of catering, banquet, hospitality, or event production experience.
  • Experience with catering equipment, event setup, breakdown, and logistics.
  • Knowledge of catering equipment, including proper use and handling.
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license.
  • California Food Handler Certification.
  • TIPS Certification.
  • Serving experience in a high-volume hospitality environment.
  • Two or more years of supervisory or leadership experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods (6+ hours per shift).
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds; rarely lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequently bend, reach, grasp, stoop, balance, and perform repetitive hand movements.
  • Occasionally kneel, crouch, twist, and climb as needed.
