Job summary

STAAR Surgical in Monrovia, CA seeks an experienced Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance, calibrations, and repairs on manufacturing equipment. The role includes documenting PM activities, ensuring GMP compliance, and maintaining safe workflows on site.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • 5+ years equipment maintenance in an industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with GMP environments.
  • Mechanically inclined with electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Knowledge of CMMS.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Conscientious with good decision-making and multitasking.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain equipment by performing PM schedules, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and basic service.
  • Calibrate measurement and test equipment.
  • Maintain the preventive maintenance program per SOPs.
  • Document PMs and collect vendor information for PM services.
  • Ensure safe working environment through safety inspections and SOP adherence.
  • Maintain equipment supplies by managing stock and orders.
  • Support manufacturing with miscellaneous duties; on-call, weekends, and after hours.
  • Develop knowledge of manufacturing processes and flows.
  • Perform complex repairs and improvements, and build new equipment as needed.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Job description

Main Job Responsibilities / Competencies
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance (PM) schedules; conducting functional test; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions; calling for special service; maintaining equipment inventories.
  • Performs calibration procedures on measurement and test equipment.
  • Maintains the preventative maintenance program in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
  • Accurately documents all PM’s performed along with gathering all information from vendors who conduct preventive maintenance services.
  • Maintains safe and healthy working environment by conducting safety inspections, recommending and complying with procedures.
  • Maintains equipment supplies inventory by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; and verifying receipt.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties to support manufacturing, and other duties, as assigned.
  • Performs “On Call” responsibilities, weekend and after hours.
  • Maintains in depth knowledge of manufacturing departments process flow, practices & procedures
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks, including repairing equipment, making improvements to existing equipment, and building new custom equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION & TRAINING
  • High school diploma/general education diploma (GED) or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of equipment maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
  • Familiarity working in a GMP environment.
Skills
  • Mechanically inclined with electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Managing System.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and aptitude in electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and construction tasks.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Conscientious with good decision-making ability and ability to complete multiple tasks.

Pay range: $32-$42 per hour - Final compensation/salary will depend on experience
