Job summary

Flex is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Tech in Austin, Texas. The role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and focuses on mechanical and electrical upkeep of conveyors and production machinery.

Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, calibrations, and assisting with equipment installation. Travel to other Flex sites may be required; SMT experience is essential for this position.

Qualifications

• SMT experience is required.
• Typically an associate degree or military technical training is expected.
• 5 years of related experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and isolate failures.
• Repair and maintain machinery including conveyors and production equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and calibrations per schedule.
• Assist engineers with installation/removal of process equipment.
• Document equipment activity and issues in logs.
• Coordinate with vendors for travel to other Flex sites as needed.
• Support both software and hardware maintenance when required.

Job Description

The “Equipment Maintenance Tech” will be based in Austin, Texas, reporting to Maintenance Supervisor.

Mechanical: Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as conveyor systems and production machines and equipment.

Electrical: Maintains and repairs manufacturing equipment to ensure it is operational.

Shift: 5:00pm-5:00am (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

What a typical day looks like:

• Through troubleshooting, identifies machine malfunctions and isolates the failure mechanism.
• Repairs the failure mechanism in the most cost-effective manner.
• Performs preventive maintenance at specified intervals and schedules.
• Performs calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment at specified intervals and schedules.
• Assists process technicians and engineers with the installation and removal of process equipment.
• Records times and problems in equipment logs.
• Provides daily equipment functioning activity information.
• Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
• Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry.
• Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
• May require travel to other Flex sites or equipment vendors' locations.
• Highest level may perform both software and hardware maintenance.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Typically requires an associate degree in related field, military technical training or equivalent education and training.
• Typically requires 5 years of related experience.
• SMT experience is a must
