Job summary

Flex is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Supervisor for our Orangeburg, SC site. You will supervise a team responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining highly automated manufacturing equipment to meet safety, cost, quality, and delivery targets.

You will direct daily activities, establish PM schedules, manage resources, and coordinate with engineering and operations while upholding safety and quality standards. Strong PLC and robotics experience is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with highly automated machinery and robotics including ABB and Fanuc robots preferred.
• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience (lead, supervisor, management) or equivalent.
• Strong communication, team-building and supervisory skills.
• Experience with press, weld and painting processes in manufacturing is a plus.
• Able to speak effectively before groups of employees and peers.
• Good problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing demands.
• Understanding of PLC systems for robotics, processes or material handling.

Reporting to the Equipment Maintenance Manager, the Equipment Maintenance Supervisor coordinates activities of personnel engaged in the troubleshooting, repairing and maintenance of manufacturing equipment to attain goals consistent with safety, cost, quality, and delivery requirements.

What a typical day looks like:

• Directs daily department activities to maximize equipment utilization and support production needs.
• Establishes preventative maintenance schedules.
• Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
• Reviews and establishes material, equipment, and manpower resource requirements.
• Coordinates maintenance activities with other functional groups such as engineering and operations.
• Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the departmental function.
• Administer safety programs to provide a safe and clean workplace for employees.
• Generates maintenance logs and other operations metrics.
• Work in a high-volume environment troubleshooting highly automated electronic and mechanical equipment in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively within the team, to customers, and to management.
• Adapt to handle multiple assignments and projects and work to complete them rapidly and effectively.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Experience with working on highly automated machinery robotics including ABB and Fanuc Robots preferred
• 5 years supervisory experience (Lead, supervisor, management, military equivalent)
• Strong communication skill, team building and supervisory
• Press, Weld and painting processes in manufacturing are preferred
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, manufacturing support, and peers
• Must have well-developed problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing demands.
• A good understanding of PLC systems and automated systems. Should have good practical experience in PLC - Systems for robotics, process, or material handling work.
• Need to be able to manage a large group of maintenance technicians across multiple shifts effectively
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry.
