Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Specialist I to join our Process Engineering team in Manufacturing Operations in West Lafayette, Indiana. You will perform basic preventive maintenance on production equipment under moderate direction.

The role emphasizes evaluating equipment conditions, entering data into the maintenance database, and applying World Class Manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in electronic technology or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of electronics, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience maintaining and performing preventive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and communication skills.

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Process Engineering team in Manufacturing Operations as an Equipment Maintenance Specialist I in West Lafayette, Indiana. If you are looking to grow your career and are motivated by solving meaningful problems,

As an Equipment Maintenance Specialist I you'll be responsible for performing basic preventive maintenance on production equipment under moderate direction and guidance.

Typical day as an Equipment Maintenance Specialist I might include:
  • Evaluate equipment condition during preventive maintenance and elevate needed corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Make accurate entries to the equipment maintenance database.
  • Learning and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operation, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
Qualifications
  • You have an associate's degree in electronic technology or equivalent experience.
  • You have a basic understanding of electronic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic technology and theory.
  • You have experience maintaining and performing preventive maintenance on production equipment.
  • You have basic knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
  • You have basic knowledge of modern test equipment used to diagnose equipment failures.
  • You have expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
  • You have the ability to accept and understand direction, learn new skills and assume new responsibilities with a positive attitude.
  • You have the ability to perform assigned tasks under direct guidance.
  • You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • You have the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • You have the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
It is a plus if you have:
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment, including analog, digital, and microprocessor circuits as well as vision and robotics systems.
  • Basic knowledge of programming automated production equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of printed circuit board assembly, mechanical assembly, and cable assembly processes.

Travel

Must be willing and able to travel during the first 4-6 months of employment for training, totaling approximately 8-12 weeks in two-week increments.

Pay Range Data: $28.46-$38.37 per hour (plus $5.00/hr 2nd shift differential)
