POSITION SUMMARY

• Inspects in-bound tractors and trailers to identify operating and DOT defects, ensuring safety and compliance.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conducts thorough inspections of tractors, trailers, reefers, and tires.
• Records identified defects in the maintenance system.
• Communicates identified defects to the driver and shop personnel to administer repairs.
• Maintains positive relationships with shop staff and drivers.
• Receives and carries out instructions.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge or willingness to learn how to identify tractor, trailer, and refer defects.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to identify mechanical issues.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to create and read work orders.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced, noisy environment around moving equipment.
• Ability to regularly lift 50lbs and occasionally lift up to 100lbs.
• Must be able to inspect vehicles to determine repairs needed.
• Good vision to inspect repair work.
• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

• DOT brake inspection certification as required by supervisor and/or location
