Crafco has an opening for an Equipment Fleet Service Mechanic at our Nassau, NY supply center location.

The Service Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing specialized pavement preservation equipment, including company rental fleets and customer equipment. They are also responsible for routine and preventative maintenance of rental fleet units. Service Technicians operate forklifts, complete paperwork, and perform tasks safely and efficiently to meet service and customer expectations. They deliver positive customer experiences, anticipate needs, suggest solutions, and manage daily service operations, shop cleanliness, and safety. They also support other supply center functions as needed.

Equipment Fleet Mechanic Duties
  1. Diagnose and perform repairs and preventative maintenance on rental and customer equipment safely.
  2. Verify service work quality and equipment readiness.
  3. Schedule services to meet customer and fleet needs within deadlines.
  4. Review recommendations with customers and perform repairs upon approval.
  5. Assist with troubleshooting via phone calls as needed.
  6. Conduct maintenance checks before and after rentals for damages, usage, safety, and compliance.
  7. Support team members in troubleshooting and repairs.
  8. Load and unload equipment complying with DOT regulations.
  9. Prepare and deliver new equipment, resolving issues beforehand.
  10. Assist with deliveries and rental procedures, ensuring safety and operation instructions are provided.
  11. Order parts and coordinate with vendors and managers for maintenance and new equipment.
  12. Handle customer inquiries and fabricate parts as needed.
  13. Perform safety and DOT compliance inspections.
  14. Perform additional duties and backup functions as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year of related experience
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools
  • Valid US Driver's License with good driving record
  • Problem-solving skills under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and proactively
  • Resourcefulness and safety awareness
  • Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting heavy items and working in various conditions
  • Positive attitude and teamwork orientation
  • Availability for local travel
