Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking an Equipment Engineer IV-style professional to lead and support transmission projects. The role involves pre-engineering field reviews, design interaction with engineers, and coordinating inspections across multiple locations.

The candidate should have a strong background in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering, with ABET accreditation, and experience in mining/blasting as relevant to transmission assets. Travel to company locations is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited school.
• PE license or a B.S. in Engineering/Engineering Technology with ABET accreditation plus an advanced degree.
• FE certificate preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of engineering experience.
• Mining and blasting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of electric transmission systems and NERC/NESC standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Generate and maintain a current list of potential transmission projects with internal and external stakeholders.
• Conduct technical engineering reviews and develop civil designs for transmission line infrastructure.
• Prioritize projects based on facility performance, outage history and customer impact.
• Evaluate mining impacts, karst topography and blasting designs for transmission assets.
• Support erosion control, tower foundation inspections and restorations.
• Present projects to senior management for consideration and funding.
• Coordinate pre-engineering field reviews with design engineers and field personnel.
• Perform periodic field quality control inspections and schedule project meetings.
