Job summary

The Water's Edge Country Club is seeking an Assistant Barn Manager to oversee daily barn operations, support lessons and equestrian programs, and ensure top-tier care for horses and guests. Working closely with the Barn Manager, you will lead a small team, maintain health records, coordinate with vets and farriers, and uphold safety and high service standards for members and riders.

This role requires reliability, organization, and a passion for equine care, with opportunities to mentor staff

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of horse handling and riding.
• Experience working in a lesson program or boarding.
• Strong knowledge of horse behavior, nutrition, and general health.
• Experience teaching beginner riders is preferred.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care for all horses, including feeding, watering, turnout, stall cleaning.
• Monitor horses daily for signs of illness, injury, lameness, colic, or behavioral concerns.
• Administer medications and supplements as directed.
• Coordinate with veterinarians, farriers, and other equine professionals as instructed by the Barn Manager.
• Maintain accurate health and treatment records.
• Assist with riding lessons, trail rides, ring rides, and special equestrian programs.
• Help evaluate horses for suitability within lesson and program.
• Ensure horses are properly tacked, conditioned, and cared for before and after sessions.
• Assist in scheduling rides and maintaining horse workloads to support long-term horse health.
• Assist with planning and supervising horse education for camps and youth programs.
• Greet members and guests, answer inquiries, schedule lessons, and address concerns professionally.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe barn environment; care for tack rooms, feed rooms, and common areas.
• Support staff in the absence of the Barn Manager and promote teamwork and safety.
