Job summary

Alfred University seeks a facilities groundskeeper and maintenance person to assist with the equestrian program and facility. The position will maintain the equestrian center facilities and equipment in accordance with identified Alfred University goals to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations by performing the following duties personally or through direct supervision of others.

The person should have broad experience in farm operations, carpentry, plumbing, repair and maintenance

Qualifications

• Broad experience in farm operations, carpentry, plumbing, and maintenance of farm equipment.
• Experience with equestrian grounds maintenance and care/handling of horses.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and tractors; physically capable of demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements a regular maintenance routine for the equestrian center facilities.
• Operate and supervise maintenance of facilities to high health and safety standards for horses, staff and students.
• Build, repair and install items (counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, roofs, fences, plumbing) per instructions.
• Maintain inventory of tools and equipment; assist with annual budget priorities.
• Inspect fences and watering systems; coordinate with contractors as needed.
