Job Description

Location: Kansas

Reports To: General Manager

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, apply engineering principles and knowledge to support the development and improvement of EPS (Engineered Piping Systems) products. Responsibilities include the creation of detailed designs and drawings, reviewing specifications, using ERP systems for data access, and monitoring project progress through dashboards. Additional duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Outside Sales to review and confirm project specifications and technical requirements.
• Create models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using AutoCAD.
• Support the development and preparation of engineering data and specifications.
• Provide technical direction during design, construction, and testing stages.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to internal teams.
• Assist in resolving quality control issues as needed.
• Compile and assemble data packages, including all required drawings.
• Handle customer inquiries within scope of responsibility.
• Communicate with departments such as engineering, production control, and purchasing regarding order status.
• Conduct engineering calculations and data analysis using Microsoft Excel.
• Utilize ERP software (e.g., SyteLine) for inventory and production information.
• Develop procedures and test plans for product qualifications and performance validation.
• Coordinate tasks and timelines related to project development.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Ensure regular attendance and adherence to company time reporting policies.
• Adhere to company rules, procedures, and safety protocols to ensure operational effectiveness.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Proficient in basic and advanced drafting practices (including GD&T per ASME Y14.5).
• Preferred: Experience with ductile iron and fabricated steel pipe systems.
• Familiarity with hydraulic systems, materials, and components such as valves, meters, and pressure vessels.
• Understanding of potable water hydraulics.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency with AutoCAD; capable of independently creating accurate drawings.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for performing engineering analysis.
• Familiarity with CAD tools including SolidWorks.
• Ability to read, interpret, and generate schematic and layout drawings.
• Strong mathematical skills for design and analysis.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to design products with manufacturability in mind.
• Comfortable navigating ERP and design systems to manage and update design documents.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and clients.
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).

Physical Requirements:

• Operate typical office and design equipment including computers, printers, and hand tools.
• Use CAD and engineering software for long periods.
• Sit or stand at a desk for extended durations.
• Occasional walking and movement throughout the office and production areas.
• Ability to grasp, write, perform repetitive tasks, and occasionally lift up to 15 lbs.
• Must have clear vision, hearing, and speaking ability to perform essential tasks.
