Job summary

Erie’s Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Bus Driver for the Service Center. Provide transportation to school students on a split shift schedule (6:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.).

Routes vary and assignments are at management discretion. A valid PA School Bus Driver’s License with S endorsement and Airbrake classification is required, along with passing a physical and background checks. Salary is $21.21/hour.

Qualifications

  • Must hold PA School Bus Driver’s License with S Endorsement and Airbrake.
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination.
  • No record of repeated traffic violations.
  • Knowledge of regulations pertaining to school bus operation.
  • Able to meet PA State Safety Regulations and be mentally and physically qualified.
  • Enjoy working with children.

Responsibilities

  • Operate school buses of various sizes and construction.
  • Capable of first echelon maintenance on buses.
  • Background check required per state law ACT 34, ACT 96, and ACT 114.

Education

PA School Bus Driver’s License (S Endorsement) with Airbrake

  • Hours could vary slightly due to staffing and specific route schedules.
  • Routes will be assigned based on availability and management discretion.
Salary

$21.21/hour

Transportation Supervisor

Qualifications
  • Must have a Commercial Driver’s License – Current Pennsylvania School Bus Driver’s License with proper CDL License (“S” Endorsement) – Airbrake Classification – and be insurable by Erie’s Public Schools**
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination.
  • No record of repeated traffic violations.
  • Knowledge of regulations and laws pertaining to the operation of a school bus.
  • Able to meet PA State Safety Regulations, mental and physical qualifications.
  • Enjoy working with children.
Duties / Responsibilities

  • Applicants not currently employed by the district must have a background check as required by state law ACT 34 EFFECTIVE 1/86, CHILD ABUSE HISTORY CLEARANCE EFFECTIVE 7/96 & ACT 114 FBI FINGERPRINT CHECK.
