Job summary

Strategic Mission Critical is hiring an experienced Building Management System (BMS) Design Engineer to design and develop EPMS control sequences for mission critical facilities. You will focus on reliable, redundant system strategies and seamless integration with other building systems.

The role requires 5+ years in EPMS design, strong PLC and BCMS knowledge, and a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in Electrical Power Monitoring Systems design, preferably in mission critical environments.
Strong understanding of BCMS and PLCs in monitoring contexts.
Bachelor’s degree required; relevant work experience may substitute for education.
Knowledge of control communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus and TCP/IP.
Experience with PLC-based EPMS designs and integration.
Familiarity with Division 25 and 26 specifications.
Knowledge of electrical power systems including distribution equipment, generators, UPS, etc.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in manufacturing/process automation is not preferred for this role.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed control system design documents, including sequences of operation and network diagrams.
Create project EPMS specifications.
Define integration strategies between EPMS, PLCs, and mechanical systems.
Specify control panel requirements, I/O and communication protocols.
Coordinate with equipment manufacturers on monitoring requirements.
Collaborate with internal engineers to align system logic with owner design requirements.
Engage with stakeholders to incorporate network and cabling needs into project requirements.
Develop and maintain EPMS design standards and documentation templates.
Participate in design coordination meetings with clients, vendors, and commissioning agents.
Assist clients with evaluation and selection of control system integrators.
Conduct QA/QC reviews of drawings and sequences before issuance.
Perform site visits to gather existing system information and verify installed conditions.
