Job summary

UTMB Health seeks a Neurodiagnostic Tech I for epilepsy monitoring, casual up to 19 hours per week in Galveston, TX. Enrolled in or recently graduated from an END program or equivalent experience, with BLS.

Responsibilities include performing EEG, IONM, LTM, EP, and NCV procedures per protocol and ensuring patient safety. Role involves electrode placement (10/20), data review, preliminary reporting, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program or equivalent experience.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs electroneurodiagnostic studies according to written protocols.
• Explains procedures to patients and gathers medical history from patients and/or charts.
• Applies standard scalp electrodes using the 10/20 placement system.
• Adjusts test protocols based on patient history and study results, recognizing normal and abnormal variants.
• Identifies and corrects electrical and electronic malfunctions.
• Monitors and reviews raw study and video data during procedures.
• Prepares completed neurodiagnostic studies for interpretation.
• Completes the “Technician Impression” sheet, serving as a preliminary report.
• Edits and archives neurodiagnostic recordings.
• Competently performs routine inpatient and outpatient neurodiagnostic procedures.
• Sets up and assists with specialized neurodiagnostic procedures.
• Ensures patient safety, maintains privacy, and follows infection control protocols.
