The Tennessee Department of Health's Office of Informatics & Analytics seeks an Epidemiologist to support nonfatal overdose surveillance through the OD2A grant, focusing on ESSENCE-based surveillance and new case definitions for emerging substances. The role involves cross-functional collaboration and data integration with REDCap and other systems.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in Epidemiology or related field, plus experience with SAS/SQL/R/Tableau and strong communication

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required or equivalent in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or related field.
  • Experience conducting epidemiologic analyses using large administrative or surveillance datasets.
  • Experience with SAS, SQL, R, Tableau, or similar analytic and visualization software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop expertise in ESSENCE and support statewide nonfatal overdose surveillance.
  • Collaborate to develop and validate surveillance definitions for emerging substances.
  • Support integration of ESSENCE data with REDCap and other systems.
  • Train team members on ESSENCE workflows and data management.
