Job summary

The Tennessee Department of Health, Office of Informatics & Analytics, is seeking a Contract Epidemiologist to lead data analyses and evaluate statewide initiatives to reduce substance use, overdose, and related harms. This role will leverage CSMD, PDMP, HDDS, and vital statistics data to examine relationships between exposures, interventions, and health outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public health, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in public health and analytics.
• Proficiency in analytical tools such as R, SAS, or Stata.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
• Ability to communicate complex data findings to non-technical audiences.
• Knowledge of public health data sources and overdose surveillance systems.

Responsibilities

• Support evaluations of overdose prevention and interventions.
• Produce reports and visualizations for dissemination.
• Perform statistical analyses to identify trends and risk factors.
• Create dashboards and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Work with epidemiologists, program managers, and healthcare providers.
• Ensure data quality, security, and HIPAA compliance.
• Contribute to grant applications, research studies, and presentations.
