Summary:

Must be willing to relocate to the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area.

This position is an independent information technology professional responsible for planning, developing, testing, installing, maintaining, and optimizing applications and related information technologies. The professional will develop clinical and business solutions, investigate processes, and understand data and communication flows within Cook Children's Integrated Delivery System. Acts as a liaison among IS, clinical end users, patient care departments, vendors, and other technical experts to support safe patient care services. Recommends process changes based on risk assessments and modifies workflows or procedures to maximize system advantages.

Expected Activities include but are not limited to:
  1. Monitoring the effectiveness of applications and related technologies in meeting user requirements.
  2. Modifying applications as needed to meet user requirements.
  3. Defining and developing reports.
  4. Preparing statistical summaries and reports.
  5. Participating in application upgrades.
  6. Resolving problems related to installed applications and technologies.
  7. Diagnosing failures in application software and related technologies.
  8. Analyzing issues and identifying trends.
  9. Ensuring quality control of all application implementations and enhancements prior to release.
  10. Staying informed about vendor and industry developments.
  11. Communicating and documenting relevant activities and items.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Clinical Information Systems, Informatics, IT, or Sciences is required.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Epic Ambulatory/Healthy Planet/Smart Form certification is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare industry experience, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • At least 5 years of experience with clinical software, hardware technology, or databases, including designing, configuring, training, or implementing clinical systems applications.
Licensure/Certification:
  • Epic certification required within 6 months of employment, including 2 test retakes.
