Job Summary

Denver Health is seeking an Epic Beaker Analyst to join our collaborative team supporting laboratory and pathology workflows. Ideal candidates will have direct clinical laboratory or pathology experience and knowledge of laboratory workflows and information systems.

Our Epic Application Analyst II is an Epic certified or proficient individual, responsible for support, analysis, design, build, configuration, implementation, workflow documentation, and educational support of the assigned Epic application software, in alignment with organization's policies, procedures, and business operations.
They should be knowledgeable about Epic or healthcare IT system functions, capable of diagnosing issues, identifying resources and escalations, and proposing creative solutions to complex problems.
They should understand the functions and processes of key customer departments and communicate effectively with various stakeholder groups.
The role requires the ability to work independently, participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation, and support team project requests.
The focus is on delivering elegant, intuitive, empowering, efficient, scalable, sustainable, systems-focused solutions, maximizing Epic foundation functionality, and using analytics to drive workflow improvements, aiming for a 90% Epic enhancement adoption rate.

Essential Functions:

  1. General
    - Plan and organize time effectively.
    - Partner with Epic end users to identify needs, opportunities, and issues to provide solutions and improvements, including site visits and validation sessions.
    - Participate in system change phases: design, build, testing, documentation, and education.
    - Comply with change management and risk mitigation processes using tools like Epic Content Management and Data Courier.
    - Communicate with team, stakeholders, and vendors regarding issues, trends, and milestones.
    - Maintain project status and escalate issues as needed.
    - Document solutions consistently for reusability.
    - Respond to correspondence from vendors, enterprise, and team.
    - Use IT and enterprise problem/request tracking tools, keep documentation current.
    - Collaborate with training staff to align documentation and training materials.
    - Present to leadership and end users both orally and in writing.
    - Participate in Epic team workgroups.
  2. Provide primary support to Epic end-users
    - Support break/fix issues.
    - Document solutions for recurring issues.
    - Manage error reports, work queues, and notifications.
  3. Service Requests/Projects
    - Complete service requests following established processes.
    - Lead or participate in evaluating, analyzing, prioritizing, and delivering system or workflow changes.
    - Create and manage project plans, define deliverables, develop schedules, and track status.
    - Communicate regularly with project teams and leadership.

Education:

  • Associate's Degree required or HS/GED with four years of Epic support experience.

Work Experience :

  • One-year Epic application support experience required.
  • Epic build experience preferred.

  • Ability to adapt and excel in evolving technical environments.
  • Understanding of Epic system capabilities and limitations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with analytical reasoning.
  • Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • High initiative and ownership of work.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and flexibility.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
