Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Epic Application Lead. The Epic Application Lead meets or exceeds the accountabilities of the Senior Analyst 2 role. As the first step in the leadership ladder, this position is accountable to the Manager and/or Director for delegation and oversight of deliverables and completion of tasks as assigned. The lead facilitates integrated processes and workflow changes across the enterprise, maintains an in-depth knowledge of assigned Epic software and workflows, and serves as a liaison between end users and Epic implementation staff. The role provides guidance and training to junior staff and actively engages in ensuring consistent standards and efficiency across the system. This position focuses on optimization and priority lists for specific clinical areas, manages change management and product functionality, and mentors analysts on the team.

Job Responsibilities

• Participate in disaster recovery measures.
• Work with appropriate parties to identify change implications, target audiences, and messaging techniques.
• Establish and maintain open lines of communication among the project tracks, teams, and users, providing oversight for issue resolution and communicating status.
• Develop scope, impact, and change management activities with operational stakeholders; develop and maintain work plans and status reports for Epic integration projects.
• Support the Director in managing day-to-day activities of the team against incidents, service requests, timelines, and ensure timely reporting to project managers.
• Collaborate with technical teams to coordinate software updates and changes.
• Ensure new releases and enhancements are thoroughly reviewed and tested.
• Engage the training team by including them in meetings and workflow validation.
• Partner with operational counterparts regarding potential system enhancement needs.
• Lead and participate in development, review, and delivery of project deliverables identified in the project plan.
• Collaborate with other application leaders and project managers to integrate processes and technical solutions.
• Ensure data interfacing into and out of Epic meets business needs, including reporting and dashboard requirements.
• Provide on-site support during go‑lives and system upgrades.
• Proactively research new functionality to guide its use.
• Ensure test scripts are created, reviewed, and updated to reflect proposed workflow solutions.
• Facilitate identification, documentation, research, and resolution of project issues.
• Provide support to internal and external customers.
• Meet frequently with analysts assigned to initiatives; run team meetings and/or office hours.
• Contribute to annual performance reviews.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, you must have strong written and oral communication skills, advanced analytical skills, and experience implementing Epic applications. You should possess strong interpersonal relationship skills, good process design experience, and be able to mentor staff while adhering to documentation and workflow standards. Basic project management skills (leading meetings, prioritizing, resolving conflicts, maintaining an issues list, managing a project plan) are required. You must lead discovery initiatives to identify appropriate system solutions. A bachelor’s degree in business or IT and 3–5 years of related work experience are required. Epic application lead certification and healthcare experience are mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional workflow certifications and healthcare experience are preferred.

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other compensation or benefits.
