Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead industrial power distribution design for EPC projects. You will develop layouts, device selections, and drawings, coordinating with construction, operation, and maintenance teams on-site.

Expect travel to project sites and strong emphasis on safety and code compliance. The role requires hands-on design and field coordination, with experience in medium/low-voltage systems and familiarity with NEC/ANSI/NEMA/NFPA standards.

Qualifications

• Experience designing/instaling medium and low-voltage distribution equipment in consulting engineering and construction.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA codes and standards.
• Ability to handle on-site plant projects with minimal supervision.
• Well-organized with a proven ability to meet deadlines and budgets while coordinating with client engineers and maintenance teams.
• Experience with CAD systems including AutoCAD and Revit.
• PE license (highly preferred) or EIT with ability to obtain PE license.

Responsibilities

• Design power system facilities and coordinate construction, operation, and maintenance of electrical power generating and distribution systems.
• Develop conceptual layouts and sketches for efficient project designs.
• Plan and coordinate detailed phases of electrical engineering projects.
• Develop equipment specifications and contractor scope documents.
• Prepare drawings and materials lists for construction and installation.
• Inspect installations for conformance with design specs and safety standards.
• Produce one-line diagrams, wiring drawings, panel layouts, motor schematics, instrument loop sheets.
• Coordinate grounding requirements and on-site start-up support.

Job description

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

This person will bring extensive experience to work on industrial projects, including the design of power distribution, lighting, and grounding systems. Projects range from small facility modifications to complex EPC contracts for heavy industrial processes.Some travel to project and construction sites will be required.

• Design power system facilities and equipment and coordinate construction, operation, and maintenance of electric power generating, receiving, and distribution stations, and distribution systems and equipment
• Develop conceptual layouts and sketches to drive the most efficient design on a project-by-project basis
• Participate in the planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating detailed phases of electrical engineering projects
• Develop equipment specifications
• Develop construction specifications and contractor scope of work documents
• Directs preparation of or prepares drawings and specific types of equipment and materials to be used in construction and equipment installation
• Inspects completed installations for conformance with design and equipment specifications and safety standards
• Work products will include: one-line diagrams, wiring drawings, panel layout drawings, motor schematics, instrument loop sheets, conduit and tray routing drawings, and contractor scope documents
• Work with systems and equipment grounding requirements (high resistance, building and isolated grounding)
• Provide on-site start-up support

Qualifications

• Experience with design/installation of medium and low-voltage distribution equipment, with experience in consulting engineering and the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA)
• Able to handle on-site plant projects with minimal supervision
• Well-organized with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and operate within budgets and work directly with client engineers and maintenance teams.
• Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit.
• Capability with CAD systems, including AutoCAD
• PE license (highly preferred) or EIT certificate with ability to obtain PE license
