Job summary

SOLV Energy, LLC seeks a Superintendent to lead field operations on a Flagstaff, AZ solar project. You will supervise direct reports and subcontractors, ensure safety and quality, coordinate with owners and designers, and maintain CPM schedules while traveling as required.

The ideal candidate has an engineering or construction management background with 8+ years in field supervision, deep knowledge of construction methods and safety standards, and the ability to develop cost effective solutions

Job Description Summary

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. The Superintendent will be responsible for the supervision of successful project completion. This role is located full-time on a jobsite in Flagstaff, AZ and will require travel. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties

• Manage direct reports and subcontractors in all field areas, providing guidance, supervision, and support to ensure project success.
• Recruit, organize, train, supervise, and coordinate the regional field construction team, fostering a culture of collaboration, safety, and quality.
• Promote a growth mindset, supporting career development and internal promotions.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with project owners, architects, and other stakeholders to facilitate communication, resolve issues, and drive project objectives.
• Lead by example as a team player with a strong work ethic and a passion for renewable energy.
• Enforce safety procedures and actively participate in the Safety Training Program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Set and maintain work quality standards; conduct inspections and audits to verify adherence to specifications and Solv Energy standards.
• Conduct constructability reviews of project designs and plans; collaborate with project teams to identify potential construction challenges and develop solutions.
• Plan and coordinate project support, including ordering materials and tools, organizing subcontractor meetings, and managing logistics to avoid delays.
• Review all drawings, specifications, and subcontractor submittals, and chair or attend pre-job conferences to ensure project readiness.
• Maintain and manage CPM schedules, coordinating with teams to meet project milestones and deadlines.
• Perform manual work when exigent conditions require it.
• Partner with the estimating team to develop accurate project cost estimates and proposals, providing insights based on onsite observations to enhance cost competitiveness.
• Prepare and maintain required reports, including time sheets, work orders, daily logs, invoice approvals, and punch list documentation.
• Chair or attend regular subcontractor meetings, monitor punch list progress, and ensure timely completion of all project activities.
• Provide regular progress updates to executive leadership, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
• Function as a liaison with owners, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain alignment and project success.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements

• Engineering, construction management, or architectural degree, or equivalent experience (2 years as assistant superintendent)
• Prefer 8 years of field construction experience at a supervisory level
• Prefer 3 years in utility-scale solar projects
• Thorough knowledge of construction methods, practices, regulations, and safety standards, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, and NEC.
• Strong knowledge of job scheduling, planning, expediting, and cost control.
• Working knowledge of all trades, with the ability to read and understand specifications for all crafts.
• Experience conducting constructability reviews and coordinating with estimating teams to develop accurate project cost estimates.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a sense of urgency.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel and work onsite, with scheduled time off every 3 weeks.
