Job summary

Worley is seeking an experienced Materials Manager to lead planning, control, and delivery of project materials across EPC/EPCM environments in Houston. You will collaborate with engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and project management to develop and implement materials strategies that keep projects on schedule and within budget.

The role requires 8–10 years in materials management, leadership of diverse teams, and strong knowledge of AVEVA ERM, SAP, Oracle, and reporting tools

Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in Materials Control or Materials Management within EPC or EPCM project environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading materials management teams on large, complex industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of EPC/EPCM materials management processes, systems, and industry best practices.
  • Experience managing the complete materials lifecycle from planning through receipt, storage, distribution, preservation, and final disposition.
  • Strong understanding of construction-driven materials planning and coordination across engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction functions.
  • Experience supporting pipe, structural steel, and module fabrication activities.
  • Working knowledge of Construction Work Packages (CWP), Advanced Work Packages (AWP), and Procurement Work Packages (PWP).
  • Experience using enterprise materials management systems such as AVEVA ERM, SmartPlant Materials, SAP, Oracle, MMS, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze complex datasets and develop meaningful reports.
  • Experience using reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI or other data analytics platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse, multidisciplinary, and geographically dispersed teams.
  • The ability to identify project risks early and implement practical solutions that support project success.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Flexibility to travel for project assignments and work adjusted schedules when project needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all materials management activities across projects from planning through final disposition of project materials.
  • Develop and implement project-specific Materials Management Strategies, Plans, Procedures, and Materials Responsibility Matrices.
  • Manage day-to-day activities and workload of the materials management team, providing leadership and technical guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with Worley policies and procedures and the Worley Code of Conduct.
  • Coordinate materials management activities across engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, fabrication, and project management teams.
  • Plan project material requirements by aligning engineering, construction priorities, procurement schedules, and project execution plans.
  • Oversee safe receipt, storage, handling, and disposal of project materials.
  • Develop bulk materials procurement and execution strategies to support schedules and minimize waste.
  • Identify contingency requirements for bulk materials to manage fabrication and construction losses.
  • Monitor material availability, shortages, delivery status, and inventory levels; resolve supply chain challenges.
  • Coordinate and support the development of CWPs, AWPs, and PWPs.
  • Maintain materials management data in AVEVA ERM, SmartPlant Materials, SAP, Oracle, MMS, or equivalent systems.
  • Produce and analyze materials reports, shortage reports, inventory reports, and performance metrics.
  • Participate in project risk assessments and identify materials-related risks with mitigation strategies.
  • Work with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure timely, safe, and compliant material delivery.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance materials management processes and project performance.
  • Coach and develop team members and foster a high-performing work environment.
  • Encourage innovation and share best practices for materials management across projects.
