Job summary

Texas A&M International University is offering a Federal College Work Study internship with the City of Laredo Environmental Services Department in Laredo, TX. This student worker role supports environmental education, permits review, and community outreach efforts.

The intern will gain hands-on municipal environmental experience, assist with compliance activities, and help with data entry and reporting. Hours are flexible around class schedules, with emphasis on service and learning.

Qualifications

• Enrolled at least half-time (undergrad 6 credits/semester, grad 3) per term.
• Maintain GPA 2.0 (undergrad) or 3.0 (grad) per program.
• Must have FAFSA on file annually.
• Must be U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have an alien registration number.
• Must meet SAPP requirements as stated by TAMIU.

Responsibilities

• Assist with environmental education and outreach campaigns to raise community awareness.
• Support Storm Water in monitoring water quality and permit reviews.
• Aid Hazardous Materials in record-keeping, inspections, and best practices promotion.
• Participate in community clean-up events, recycling initiatives, and environmental fairs.
• Conduct basic research on environmental regulations and sustainability trends.
• Provide administrative support including data entry, file organization, and reporting.
