Millennium Space Systems in El Segundo, CA, is hiring an Environmental Test Technician Senior for the second shift to test space hardware with electrodynamic shakers, thermal vacuum and cycling chambers. You will install sensors, interpret drawings, and work with engineering to refine procedures, delivering complete test data and reports. The role is onsite with potential travel to external facilities.

Candidates must be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance and be a U.S. citizen.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• More than 1 year of experience in production or test environments.
• Experience operating specialized equipment: electrodynamic shakers, thermal vacuum chambers and/or thermal cycling chambers.

Responsibilities

• Execute environmental tests of space flight hardware using specialized equipment and tools.

• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, assembly and test procedures.
• Work with engineering to define and refine standard operating procedures.

This position’s internal job code is Environmental Test Technician Sr. Our team is currently hiring for grade 24.

Position Responsibilities

• Executes environmental test of space flight hardware using a variety of specialized equipment and tools, including: electrodynamic shakers, thermal vacuum chambers, thermal cycling chambers, torque wrenches, adhesives, etc.
• Installs and operates test instrumentation and other specialized test equipment, including: accelerometers, thermocouples, etc.
• Interprets engineering drawings, specifications, assembly procedures, test procedures, etc.
• Works with engineering to define and refine standard operating procedures
• Records, prepares, organizes, and delivers test data, run logs, and other relevant documentation for inclusion in final test reports
• Maintains environmental test lab equipment, performs resource 5S activities, etc.
• As required, oversees testing at outside test facilities
• Supports initiatives to maintain safe operations, ensure product quality, reduce lead time/labor hours, etc. through environmental test
• This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
• The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
• Shift: This position is primarily 2nd shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives.
• Candidates must be able to work any shift assigned.
• Union: This is an International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) hourly union-represented position. New hires and employees transferring from non-union roles may be required to attend or complete training within their 90-day probationary period. Continued employment is contingent on successfully completing the probationary period.
• Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An Interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post Start is required.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
• More than 1 year of experience with production or test environments
• More than 1 year of experience operating any of the following specialized equipment (Electrodynamic shakers (vibration table), Thermal Vacuum Chambers and/or Thermal Cycling Cambers)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

• More than 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or factory support environment
• More than 1 year of experience handling Electrostatic Sensitive Devices (ESD) hardware and its related processes

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $29.42 - $47.09

Millennium is a DDTC-registered, ITAR-compliant Company. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Applicants MUST be U.S. citizens and eligible for a security clearance. Additionally, applicants must be willing to apply for and maintain a security clearance.
