Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking an Environmental Technician for an onsite Taylor, TX role with a contract-to-hire path. The position requires flexibility to work outside, at loading docks, and over varying shifts.

You will perform material transfers, operate pumps, and adhere to strict safety and PPE protocols. Candidates must have a high school diploma, strong communication skills, and certifications in OSHA HAZWOPER and Confined Space Entry & Rescue.

Qualifications

• Background in manufacturing, warehousing, or blue-collar work.
• OSHA HAZWOPER 24-hour training and Confined Space Entry & Rescue certification.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• Able to lift up to 60 pounds, work overtime and varied hours.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety procedures and PPE usage.
• Wear a respirator as required.
• Load materials into tankers following SOPs.
• Set up job site functions prior to transfer operations.
• Connect hoses to tankers and inspect fittings.
• Operate pumps to load/offload hazardous waste.
• Monitor transfers and halt work if unsafe.
• Maintain housekeeping and represent the company professionally.
• Carry out daily tasks as directed by Lead.

Job description

Contract to Hire - 6 month contract and then direct hire

Schedule - 5am-1:30pm or 1:30-10pm (openings on both shifts)

Candidates with background in Manufacturing, Warehouse, Blue Collar work is what they are looking for

Will be in PPE up to level C which is tyvek, boots, gloves, hard hat, glasses, and protective mask. This will not be all the time.

Will need to be clean shaven

This work will mostly be outside at the loading docks so they need to be willing to work in the elements

Our Client, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking Environmental Technicians. This onsite role is based in Taylor, TX, reporting directly to the Operations Supervisor. The position requires flexible availability throughout the week and weekends.

Responsibilities:

• Comply with prescribed safety procedures and regulations, including proper use and care of PPE.
• Must be able to wear a Respirator
• Load materials into tankers following the prescribed SOPs.
• Set up job site functions prior to transfer operations, including truck berms and secondary containment.
• Connect and disconnect transfer compatible hoses to tankers, inspecting connections, fittings, and gaskets before use.
• Operate diaphragm pumps and other transfer equipment to load and offload tankers with hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
• Verify material and tanker compatibility before loading, and continuously monitor transfers, stopping work immediately if unsafe conditions occur.
• Maintain good housekeeping and represent the company professionally to customers, suppliers, regulators, and the public.
• Carry out daily job tasks assigned by Lead and other duties as needed.

Basic Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to complete and maintain OSHA HAZWOPER 24-hour training and Confined Space Entry & Rescue certification.
• Current driver's license with clean driving record; must have a reliable form of transportation.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
• Must consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC), and participate in random drug screening thereafter.
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds regularly, work overtime, and work flexible hours within the work week.
• This role frequently involves handling hazardous chemicals and waste and is considered safety-sensitive.

Preferred Requirements:

• Basic knowledge of chemicals and their interactions and danger signs.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong and to concentrate on a task without distraction.
