H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm in Melville, NY or New York City, seeks an Environmental Technician. As an Environmental Technician, you will be responsible for assisting with sampling, testing, and inspections for asbestos surveys, reviewing and understanding site plans, completing asbestos, mold, lead, and indoor air quality inspection reports for insurance companies, private industries, and school districts. Travel is required for this position, and you may be required to use your own vehicle for work-related travel, including travel to and from job sites. This position is flexible and can be part-time.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform asbestos, mold, and lead surveys on residential and commercial buildings.
  • Provide project monitoring and air sampling, including compliance with on-site field protocols such as chain of custody forms and daily logs.
  • Prepare and review project-related reports.
  • Manage asbestos and lead abatement projects, including scheduling field staff, client management, dealing with contractors, and ensuring compliance with state and city agencies.

Education and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Less than 1 year of experience in the environmental consulting field, specifically industrial hygiene is a plus.
  • Current NYSDOL certifications for the following:
  • Lead EPA lead inspector/risk assessor certification is a plus.
  • Strong technical skills, including field expertise and knowledge of architectural drawings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Client relationship skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

The salary range for this role is $18 - $21 / hour.

The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography, and/or related certifications.
