Job summary

The Institute for Environmental Assessment, Inc. (IEA) in Marshall seeks an Environmental Technician to join a field-based team delivering on-site assessments, program development, and sampling across diverse client sites.

You will work locally with travel to nearby sites, developing skills through comprehensive training and coaching, and supporting environmental health and safety programs while upholding our commitment to integrity and client success.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Degree or experience in Environmental Science, Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Construction Management (preferred).
  • Asbestos Site Supervisor/Inspector MN 2-Day Air and NIOSH 582 certifications preferred.
  • Willingness to obtain above certifications within 1 year of hire or meet experience requirements.
  • 2,000 hours of work experience in construction/asbestos/safety/industrial hygiene or equivalent; or Bachelor’s with 500 hours in listed areas; or apprentice program completion.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site assessments at client sites.

The Environmental Technician is a dynamic, field-based role, involving independent work at various client sites. Daily routines include conducting on-site assessments, inspections, program development, and various sampling protocols.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree and/or experience in Environmental Science, Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Construction Management field (preferred).
  • Asbestos Site Supervisor, Asbestos Inspector, MN 2-Day Air and NIOSH 582 certifications (preferred).
  • Willingness and ability to obtain the above certifications within 1 year of hire or meet the experience requirements listed below (preferred):
  • 2,000 hours of work experience in general construction trades, asbestos-related work, safety, industrial hygiene, or hazardous materials control; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in physical or life sciences, engineering, or architecture and 500 hours of work experience in the areas listed above; or
  • Completion of an apprentice program within the general commercial construction trades.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable source of transportation.
  • Ability to pass a background and motor vehicle check.

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel is expected.

The typical salary range for this position ranges from $22.00 – $26.00 per hour. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, and experience.
