Your Opportunity
We are currently looking to add an experienced Environmental Engineering Technician Lead to support our Alpharetta, Georgia office location. The successful candidate for this position will oversee and coordinate field activities troubleshoot remediation systems. Additionally, this position will repair, modify and perform routine operations and maintenance (O&M) of groundwater remediation and water treatment systems, air compressors for air sparge systems and vacuum pumps for soil vapor extraction systems. The role requires an independent individual with mechanical aptitude and maintenance experience or similar background. The role requires significant travel and the ability to manage others, as well as work alone or in small teams
Your Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the scheduling of field activities, ensuring required equipment is scheduled for delivery in a timely manner, ensuring equipment is called off rent, coordinating with labs for sample container orders and deliveries, and client notifications of site visits
Troubleshooting, repairing, cleaning and optimizing operation of air compressors, groundwater treatment systems, and soil vapor extraction systems
Routine gauging and sampling of groundwater monitoring wells using US EPA protocol including accurate completion of labels and chain-of-custody forms, and packaging samples for shipment
Produce accurate and complete documentation during sampling while working in field/ inclement conditions
Routine completion of remediation system operation data sheets and transmitting these data sheets (scan and e-mail) to the office
Installation & abandonment of monitoring wells, soil vapor extraction well, air sparge wells, & extraction wells
70% to 80% travel through the Southeastern US (Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee) with company reimbursement of business expenses
Active participation in maintaining Stantec's safety culture.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Ability to work with limited oversight
Strong organization and time management skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including intermediate MS Office skills.
Strong note-taking skills and attention to detail.
Understanding of technical writing skills.
Experienced at working well in a team atmosphere, as a team lead, and independently as required.
Working understanding of policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (as required).
Working knowledge of field sampling techniques.
Must have the willingness to learn new skills while conducting field work
Experience/knowledge of hazardous materials as emergency response are desirable.
Builds and maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships within their technical team and Business Center.
Good driving record and valid driver’s license required
May require post-employment drug testing based on client needs
Preferred Skills & Abilities:
Experience performing equipment maintenance as well as using and trouble-shooting electronic field instruments
Able to consistently record clear, detailed field notes, and have very good to excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to work independently to successfully complete fieldwork (sampling, equipment maintenance/repair, or other activities)
Be able to independently identify equipment materials and supplies needed for sampling events or other routine fieldwork; able to order field equipment from vendors and suppliers at costs within a specified budget
Interface in a positive manner with staff including senior engineers, geologists, and project managers
Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three or more years of related experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
