Job summary

  • Document site logs, chain of custody, travel logs, and sample shipping.

This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (3 days per week in the office/hoteling).

Job Summary:

Job Duties:

  • Works approximately 50% in the field conducting hands-on instrument maintenance / service, verifications, calibration, and completion of all required service logs, field sheets and documentation in accordance with SOPs, QAPPs and the EPA QA Handbook.
  • Conduct remote air monitoring site visits for assigned sites according to the EPA schedule and ADEQ QAPPs.
  • An understanding of the operation of the air monitoring sites including; ambient air monitoring instruments, meteorological instruments, data acquisition, sample setup and retrieval and all other auxiliary equipment.
  • Data verification for continuous and manual instruments. Review of data using: reports, graphs, charts or linear databases to identification of outliers, malfunctions or anomalies.
  • Documentation and completion of: electronic field sheets, site logs, instrument logs, instrument change out sheets, chain of custody, vehicle logs, travel logs and sample shipping.
  • Responds to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Performs or leads projects under direction of a unit lead or manager.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Gaseous and particulate instrumentation, Auto-GC, Communication equipment.
  • Quality assurance and control, and data entry using relational databases.
  • Existing and new environmental monitoring techniques and equipment.
  • Methodologies and techniques for collecting environmental data including the design and function of environmental monitoring equipment and State and Federal environmental regulations.
  • Environmental technology, mechanical engineering or electrical technician.

SKILLS:

  • Skilled in AirVision and the ability to build sites, create import templates, and diagnose any data polling issues or concerns.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing instrumentation and sampler issues.
  • Repair instrument pneumatic and electronic systems.

ABILITIES:

  • Setup, program, and troubleshoot communications' equipment.
  • Use CRBasic and other communicate programming languages.
  • Operate, maintain and calibrate environmental monitoring equipment; collect representative environmental samples according to standard operating procedures; follow guidance documents.

Selective Preference(s):

  • ET 1: Associate's degree plus 0-3 years of experience conducting environmental monitoring or a Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field with no prior experience

    Pertinent training such as military or trade schooling may be evaluated for equivalency with college level coursework.
  • ET 2: Associate's degree plus 4-7 years of experience conducting environmental monitoring or a Bachelor’s degree or higher with 1 - 5 years of experience.

  • ET 3: Associate's degree plus 7- 10 years of experience conducting environmental monitoring or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Technology or Environmental Science or higher with 6 - 8 years of experience.

    Pertinent training such as military or trade schooling may be evaluated for equivalency with other college level coursework.
