Job summary

WWC Sheridan is seeking an environmental technician to conduct environmental sampling and testing, perform site assessments and inspections, and implement remedial options. The role includes data entry, technical reporting, and contractor oversight, with travel required up to a week at a time.

The candidate should be self-starting and familiar with water sampling systems and sampling techniques. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and Safeland training are preferred.

Job description

WWC Sheridan has an immediate opening for an environmental technician who will be responsible for environmental sampling/testing, site assessments and inspections, implementation of remedial options, assist with research, technical reporting, data entry and contractor oversight.

The successful candidate will be a self‑starting individual and will be given special consideration for knowledge of and experience with water sampling computer systems and overall environmental sampling techniques and standards. Out of town travel is a requirement and, in many instances, will involve overnight travel, up to a week at a time. WWC Sheridan branch will be managing this position, however, the candidate may live near any Wyoming WWC branch for in-office work requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
  • Collects soil, soil gas, sediment, surface water, and groundwater samples.
  • Perform site reconnaissance visits for Phase I ESAs
  • Provide contractor oversight.
  • Informs project managers/field leads of any field problems and helps with solutions.
  • Above mentioned duties will require out of town travel and in many instances will involve overnight travel, potentially up to a week at a time.
  • *Performs all other related duties as assigned by management

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.

  • While performing the duties, the employee will regularly walk, stand or stoop; occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 60 pounds; frequently lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to perform duties outdoors and capable of participating in sustained physical labor such as extended hours of walking, standing, carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Ability to perform independently and in remote and/or rural areas. Use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity; carry equipment up and down steep terrain. Work is regularly performed for sustained periods outdoors in hot, cold, or inclement weather.
  • The employee may be required to wear a respirator, which requires annual medical surveillance and fit testing. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate.

This position will involve some travel (using WWC vehicles) and thus this offer is made on the condition that you have a valid driver's license and that you are able to be covered by WWC's vehicle insurance. This offer is also contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug & alcohol test. Please note that this is an offer of at‑will employment and does not constitute an employment contract between us.
