Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for an Environmental Systems Regional Supervisor in the Northern Region of Maryland. This role oversees water, wastewater, and industrial wastewater treatment systems, along with operations, maintenance, and regional personnel supervision.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, CSUS coursework, and either 1 year as an Environmental Systems Assistant Regional Supervisor or 8 years in related operator roles with 3+ years supervising

This position is responsible for the overall management of water, wastewater, and industrial wastewater treatment systems. The four (CSUS) courses must be approved by the Manager of Water/Wastewater Operations. If all or additional courses are needed to meet this requirement, MES will allow 18 months for the employee to complete the required courses. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.2. The “Manage for Success” or equivalent CSUS management course that is approved by the MES Training Office must also be completed for this position.AND 1 year as an Environmental Systems Assistant Regional Supervisor with the Maryland Environmental Service.OR 8 years of progressively responsible experience as an operator of water, wastewater or industrial wastewater treatment systems, including at least 3 years supervising subordinate plant personnel.Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.Must hold a valid operator’s certificate that the Maryland State Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators considers appropriate for either: Wastewater Class 5; or Water Class 4.Must have a passing score on an operator certification examination accepted by the Board for Wastewater Class 5.Must have a passing score on an operator certification examination accepted by the Board for Water Class 4.Must have a passing score on a third operator certification examination accepted by the Maryland State Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems Operators for operator certification in Maryland.The third examination must be passed within 24 months of beginning employment in the Maryland Environmental Service’s water/wastewater environmental systems operator job series.This position will be open until filled.Any offer of employment will be contingent upon successfully completing required pre-employment screens, to include full background check, drug & alcohol screening, and position appropriate physical.Maryland Environmental Service is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
