Job description

UPMC Somerset is seeking a full-time Environmental Services Supervisor to support their Housekeeping department!

The Environmental Services Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities, and provides direct reports to cleaning crews engaged in housekeeping activities. They manage all functions related to personnel efficiency and performance.

This full-time role will work the 2nd shift, 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with on-call requirements for every other weekend and holiday.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain communications and act as a liaison between all shifts and departments in order to ensure smooth operation and continuity of work.
  2. Understand and apply principles of situational leadership and Transformational leadership.
  3. Participate and attend system, hospital, and nursing committees as required.
  4. Model and develop staff through these mechanisms.
  5. Evaluate employees and supervise the completion of personnel reports and evaluations of employees.
  6. Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of the hospital. Recommend painting, wallpapering, furnishings, etc. to improve sanitation, appearance and efficiency.
  7. Maintain an adequate quantity of essential operating supplies and equipment. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the latest technology and evaluate the current trends regularly.
  8. Plan work schedules and assign hours and areas of work to ensure adequate services for all areas of hospital responsibility.
  9. Continuously check assigned areas to be sure work is being accomplished and personnel are following schedules, including set ups and moves.
  10. Participate in Human Resource functions which include but is not limited to hiring, termination, performance evaluation, disciplinary actions, and counseling.
  11. Instruct and train employees in the various methods of cleaning and project work.
