Job summary

KCO Resource Management seeks an Environmental Sustainability Manager to lead EMS across two Hartford County manufacturing facilities with travel to Upstate NY. You will drive sustainability initiatives, reduce energy use, conserve water, and cut waste while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3+ years in manufacturing sustainability, with strong analytics, cross-functional collaboration, and knowledge of environmental regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental management, engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3+ years of environmental sustainability and compliance experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience leading EMS and sustainability initiatives focused on energy, water, and waste reduction.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Experience evaluating manufacturing utility systems including steam, refrigeration, compressed air, water, and CIP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience measuring project performance, tracking KPIs, and identifying cost savings opportunities.
  • Hands-on, self-motivated leader who can work independently and collaborate across teams.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and presentation skills.
  • ISO 14001/50001 knowledge and related certifications preferred.
  • Experience with EPA Energy Star or DOE Better Plants programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Environmental Management System (EMS) across two manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop and execute sustainability initiatives focused on reducing energy consumption, water usage, and waste.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Monitor environmental KPIs, analyze performance data, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate manufacturing utility systems including steam, refrigeration, compressed air, water, and CIP systems to improve efficiency and sustainability.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Sanitation, and Plant Leadership to implement environmental initiatives and drive measurable results.
  • Develop environmental procedures, tools, and training to strengthen environmental awareness and accountability across both facilities.
  • Communicate environmental performance, project progress, and compliance updates to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as the environmental subject matter expert while promoting a culture of sustainability and continuous improvement.
  • Travel regularly between both facilities.
