This hands-on role focuses on waste management and air and water programs, with emphasis on continuous improvement and teamwork. You will implement programs, manage permits, track metrics, and engage with operations and regulators to ensure ISO 14001 compliance and robust environmental performance, while supporting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, civil, chemical engineering or related field.
  • Experience in environmental compliance in manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with EMS ISO 14001 preferred.
  • Ability to lead safety and environmental programs and report metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental, safety, and sustainability compliance at the division.
  • Implement and manage air, water, waste, and radiation programs.
  • Maintain facility procedures (SPCC, SWPPP, RCRA, Contingency Plan, etc.).
  • Track environmental metrics and engage with operations and regulators.
  • Drive continual improvement and mentorship across teams.

Job description

Ready to take ownership of environmental compliance at a modern, high-performing manufacturing facility? We’re partnering with an industry-leading manufacturer in Central Florida seeking an Environmental Engineer with a strong interest in waste management and compliance, while also supporting air and water programs. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being out in the operation, solving problems, driving continuous improvement, and building a long-term career with a company that values growth, ownership, and teamwork.

The environmental engineer will be responsible for leading the safety, sustainability, and environmental compliance at the division.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Implement and manage environmental programs (air, water, waste, radiation) including permitting and reporting
  • Maintain compliance with all safety and environmental requirements
  • Identify, read, and interpret applicable rules and regulations
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, implementation, and compliance with facility specific procedures and plans (ex. SPCC, SWPPP, RCRA, Contingency Plan, etc.)
  • Active engagement in the operation and maintenance of environmental systems (i.e. baghouse, CEMS, water system equipment, waster system chemistry, etc.)
  • Active engagement with operations team to ensure alignment and execution of mill compliance and improvement requirements
  • Engage with the mill wide team for solutions to problems and promote continual improvement
  • Oversee maintenance and improvement projects from conception, design, and implementation
  • Compile, review, and report environmental metrics
  • Track on-site waste generation, waste disposal, recycling, and energy use
  • Play an integral role in the education and training of the team
  • Manage the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
  • Participate in community outreach initiatives and engage with Environmental Regulators

Salary

$75,000 - $115,000

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, civil, chemical engineering or related degree or equivalent years of applicable experience

Preferences
  • Experience in environmental compliance in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Experience with implementation and maintenance of an ISO 14001 or equivalent EMS
  • Experience in air pollution control operations, water treatment operations, hazardous waste, and radiation
  • RCRA waste generation, storage, and proper disposal knowledge
  • Experience with Title V and / or NPDES permitting
  • Geographically mobile for current or future career opportunities
