Job summary

Sabathani Community Center seeks an Environmental Sustainability Coordinator to guide participants through green job training and certifications. You will provide case management, assess needs, and develop individualized plans, tracking progress to ensure successful completion.

You will connect participants with resources such as housing, transportation, and financial support, acting as the liaison with employers and training providers in a nonprofit context.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in case management, workforce development, education or related fields.
  • Experience with diverse populations facing barriers to employment.
  • Experience using participant management databases (Salesforce, Workforce One, HMIS) preferred.
  • Nonprofit or community-based experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of participants and provide personalized support to ensure success in green job training and certifications.
  • Conduct initial assessments to determine participants’ needs, skills, and goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized action plans aligned with participants’ professional development and certification requirements.
  • Track participants’ progress and adjust action plans as needed.
  • Provide ongoing encouragement, coaching, and motivation to keep participants engaged and completing training.
  • Connect participants with housing, transportation, and financial resources to remove barriers to training and employment.
  • Maintain access to ongoing professional development within environmental sustainability.
  • Serve as liaison between participants and employers or internship opportunities.
  • Support other duties as assigned.

About the role

The Environmental Sustainability Coordinator will play a pivotal role in guiding participants through green job training programs, ensuring they receive the necessary certifications to thrive in the growing field of environmental sustainability. This position focuses on case management, providing individualized support to participants enrolled in training programs, tracking progress, and ensuring successful completion. The Coordinator will serve as the main point of contact for participants, offering resources and guidance to help them secure employment in the green sector.

What you'll do
Case Management & Support
  • Manage a caseload of participants, providing personalized support to ensure their success in green job training and certification programs.
  • Conduct initial assessments to determine participants' needs, skills, and goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized action plans that align with participants’ professional development and certification requirements.
  • Track participants' progress, offering continuous support and adjusting action plans as necessary.
  • Provide ongoing encouragement, coaching, and motivation to participants to ensure they remain engaged and successfully complete training.
  • Connect participants with community resources, including housing assistance, transportation, and financial support services, to eliminate barriers to training and employment.
  • Ensure that participants have access to ongoing professional development opportunities within the environmental sustainability field.
  • Serve as a liaison between participants and potential employers or internship opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Program Management
  • Ensure that participants enroll in appropriate green job training programs that meet industry standards.
  • Facilitate and monitor progress in obtaining green job certifications.
  • Collaborate with external training providers to coordinate certification courses and ensure quality delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files for all participants in databases such as Workforce One and Salesforce.
  • Prepare reports on participant progress, program outcomes, and training completion for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all program activities are in compliance with relevant regulations and grant requirements.
  • Work closely with other program staff, employers, and local green sector organizations to create job placement opportunities for participants.
  • Partner with local environmental organizations, community centers, and government agencies to expand job opportunities and resources.
Qualifications
Education
  • Associate's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Workforce Development, Education, Public Administration, Environmental Studies, or a related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in case management, workforce development, education, employment services, youth development, human services, or a related field.
  • Experience working with diverse populations facing barriers to employment, education, or economic stability.
  • Experience coordinating programs, maintaining participant records, and meeting grant or contract requirements preferred.
  • Experience using participant management databases (Salesforce, Workforce One, HMIS, or similar systems) preferred.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or community-based organization preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid Minnesota driver's license with access to reliable transportation and ability to meet Sabathani's driving requirements.
  • Green industry certifications (Building Science Principles, Home Energy Auditor, OSHA-10, etc.) are preferred but may be obtained after hire.
