Job summary

Sabathani Community Center is seeking a Workforce Coordinator to lead workforce development initiatives, provide individualized career coaching, and coordinate training cohorts. Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Human Services, Workforce Development, Business, Education, Public Administration, or related field required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Two to four years of experience in workforce development, employment services, career coaching, case management, education, or related human services.
  • Experience working with individuals facing barriers to employment is preferred.
  • Experience developing employer partnerships or business engagement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, enroll, and orient participants into workforce development programs.
  • Conduct Healthy Lifestyle Assessments, career assessments, and develop individualized employment and career plans.
  • Provide ongoing case management, coaching, and barrier reduction services.
  • Assist participants in obtaining transportation, childcare, housing, food assistance, driver's licenses, work clothing, tools, and other supportive services.
  • Maintain regular contact with participants throughout training and employment retention.

About the role

The Workforce Coordinator is responsible for coordinating workforce development programming that prepares participants for sustainable, living wage careers. Using a strength based, trauma informed approach, the Workforce Coordinator recruits participants, provides individualized career coaching and case management, coordinates workforce training cohorts, develops employer partnerships, and connects participants to employment, internships, apprenticeships, and postsecondary education.

The Workforce Coordinator serves as a primary liaison between participants, employers, training providers, and community partners to ensure participants successfully complete training, earn industry-recognized credentials, and obtain meaningful employment. The position also supports program reporting, grant compliance, and continuous quality improvement.

What you'll do
Workforce Development & Case Management
  • Recruit, enroll, and orient participants into workforce development programs.

  • Provide ongoing case management, coaching, and barrier reduction services.
  • Assist participants in obtaining transportation, childcare, housing, food assistance, driver's licenses, work clothing, tools, and other supportive services.
  • Maintain regular contact with participants throughout training and employment retention.
Career Development
  • Deliver workforce readiness instruction including resume development, interview preparation, workplace communication, professionalism, financial literacy, career exploration, and digital literacy.
  • Assist participants with career pathway planning and continuing education opportunities.
  • Support participants in obtaining industry-recognized credentials.
Employer Engagement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers across high-demand industries.
  • Coordinate employer presentations, hiring events, job fairs, and informational sessions.
  • Identify internship, apprenticeship, work experience, and employment opportunities.
  • Match qualified participants with employment opportunities.
  • Conduct employer follow-up and participant retention activities.
  • Assist with establishing and supporting Sabathani's Workforce Advisory Council.
Program Coordination
  • Coordinate workforce training cohorts from recruitment through completion.
  • Work collaboratively with contracted training providers and educational institutions.
  • Monitor participant attendance, progress, credential attainment, and employment outcomes.
  • Coordinate participant supportive services throughout training.
Data, Compliance & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate participant documentation in Workforce One, Salesforce, and other required databases.
  • Complete case notes and documentation in accordance with grant requirements.
  • Collect employment verification, credential documentation, wage information, and participant outcomes.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as requested.
  • Ensure compliance with funding requirements and organizational policies.
Community Engagement
  • Participate in outreach events and recruitment activities.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, and workforce partners.
  • Represent Sabathani at workforce meetings and collaborative initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts through participant and employer feedback.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree in Human Services, Workforce Development, Business, Education, Public Administration, or related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in workforce development, employment services, career coaching, case management, education, or related human services.
  • Experience working with individuals facing barriers to employment is preferred.
  • Experience developing employer partnerships or business engagement preferred.
  • Experience coordinating training programs, employment services, or grant-funded programs preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of workforce development systems and career pathway models.
  • Strong understanding of case management principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to build partnerships with employers and community organizations.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and presentations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and case management databases such as Salesforce or Workforce One.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid Minnesota driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and ability to meet Sabathani driving requirements.
