The incumbent plans work assignments, directs subordinate activities, manages budgets and resources, conducts quality control assessments, and serves as liaison between field operations and upper management. The role requires regulatory compliance, staff development, and oversight of pest detection and plant protection programs.

Key qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years as Environmental Specialist I with Florida State, or 2.5 years in environmental protection/apiculture/natural sciences/engineering
• Valid Class E driver license required
• Federal Accredited Certification Official (ACO) for Federal Phytosanitary Certificates
• Must obtain restricted-use pesticide (Public Applicator's) license within six months of employment
• Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight trips and up to two weeks for emergency programs
