Job summary

The Environmental Specialist Sr for Public Water Systems under Virginia's Safe Drinking Water Act mandate works in the DGS Office of External Affairs to provide technical assistance to groundwater waterworks. The role includes inspections, sanitary surveys, regulatory interpretation, and ensuring health and safety compliance, with public information on water quality.

This is a restricted 12-month position funded through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, with continued employment

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of biology, microbiology, chemistry, and math.
• Knowledge of technology associated with provision of drinking water.
• Proven experience expressing facts clearly verbally and in writing and presenting at public meetings.
• Experience analyzing information and data and making recommendations for corrective actions.
• Proven experience interpreting complex federal, state and local laws, policies, and regulations.
• Valid State Driver's License required to operate a state vehicle.
