Job summary

The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) seeks a qualified professional to perform and manage Historic Architecture surveys in areas affected by DelDOT projects. The role involves coordinating with environmental and engineering design staff to ensure documentation aligns with preservation requirements.

Responsibilities include research, fieldwork, analysis, evaluation, and technical report writing, plus public outreach related to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act

Qualifications

• Master's degree in architectural history, art history, historic preservation or related field, or bachelor's in these fields plus two years of experience.
• Knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and 36 CFR Part 800.
• Experience performing environmental specialist work including analysis and assessment of environmental and cultural impacts.
• Experience in technical report writing and data analysis.
• Experience ensuring compliance with environmental laws, rules, and regulations.

Job description

This position performs and manages Historic Architecture surveys within areas affected by DelDOT projects, coordinating with environmental and engineering design staff. Primary tasks include research, fieldwork, analysis and evaluation, technical report writing, and public outreach related to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and Section 4(f) of the US DOT Act. The role is part of Delaware's Department of Transportation Solutions division.

Key qualifications:

• Master's degree in architectural history, art history, historic preservation or related field, OR bachelor's degree in these fields plus two years of experience in architectural history or restoration
• Knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and implementing regulations under 36 CFR Part 800
• Experience performing environmental specialist work including analysis and assessment of environmental and cultural impacts
• Experience in technical report writing and data analysis
• Experience ensuring compliance with environmental laws, rules, and regulations
