Job summary

Kinetik is seeking a field-level environmental compliance SME to support operations and regulatory affairs across oil and gas gathering and processing assets. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with federal, state and corporate environmental rules, and involves coordinating LDAR programs and emissions reporting.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies or engineering, 3–5 years of field experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with OGI or similar

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position serves as the field level Subject Matter Expert (SME) in complying with environmental regulations applicable to company operations. The position supports southeast New Mexico oil and gas gathering and processing assets, including gas plants, compressor stations, and the associated gathering systems. This position will assist operations in achieving EHS goals with respect to environmental compliance in our operations. A proven ability to solve problems, learn new material, adapt to change and be an effective communicator are key traits to success in this position.

Assist management, operations, and project/maintenance teams as required to assure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate rules and regulations pertaining to operational environmental aspects and impacts.Assist with organizing, planning, implementing, and auditing the environmental programs and policies for the operation, ensuring compliance as required by regulatory agencies and corporate policy.Ensure compliance with Title V operating permits and New Source Review (NSR) permits, including the preparation of semiannual deviation reports and annual compliance certifications.Oversee LDAR programs to ensure proper data capture and reporting in alignment with federal and state requirements.Preparation of annual air emissions inventories, calculation of hourly emissions, and reporting through NMED’s online portal as needed.Management of data in the EHS database to ensure emissions are calculated correctly and tracked against permit limits.Assist with the review of MOC’s for environmental impacts, including NSR compliance, anddocumenting necessary information to the file or helping to initiate the permitting process when required.Assist with waste management activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, including tracking manifests, and regulatory reporting. Ensure compliance, gather data and facilitate reporting as required under numerous applicable regulations, including but not limited to CERCLA, EPCRA, and SARA.Ensure compliance with SPCC requirements and assist with spill response and remediation activities, as needed, including the facilitation of required reporting to NMED and/or NMOCD as needed.Ensure compliance with corporate policies, including but not limited to reporting releases to all applicable agencies and internal personnel.Assist with being point of contact for both regulatory agencies and operations on required reports, payments, inspections, and other applicable regulatory requirements.Assist with compliance audits, as needed, and assist in facilitating resolution of action items from findings of reviews, inspections, and incident investigations.Maintain a working knowledge of existing and proposed regulations that affect the plant/compressor station/ pipeline site.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an area of Environmental study or an engineering discipline3-5 years working in Environmental field, preferably with experience in air regulations and in Oil and Gas OperationsExperience with Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) and other gas detection methods preferredStrong software skills in Microsoft products, specifically Excel. Working Conditions

Will be working in an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.Will work outdoors in adverse or extreme weather conditions.Will be required to frequently drive to other field facilities within their assigned region.Available outside of normal working hours as needed for business necessity.

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.Ability to work effectively in all working conditions noted above.Will require lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. in a safe manner on an occasional basis.Ability to possess and maintain a valid driver's license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company.
