Job summary

Hilo Benioff Medical Center in East Hawaiʻi seeks an Environmental Services Worker II to maintain a safe, clean, and healing environment for patients, families, and staff. You will support patient care by upholding high sanitation standards across the hospital.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of janitorial practices, cleaning tools, and materials.
• Ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, restrooms, common areas, and hospital facilities using approved disinfectants
• Collect, transport, and dispose of regular, infectious, and pathological waste in accordance with safety protocols
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including floor care machines for stripping, waxing, and carpet maintenance
• Restock supplies such as paper products, soap, and linens to ensure continuous availability
• Clean and disinfect specialized areas including isolation rooms, intensive care units, and surgical suites while following strict safety procedures
• Move and handle furniture, beds, and equipment safely to ensure thorough cleaning of all areas

* Rates listed for paid holidays, vacation and sick days are for 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
