Job summary

Centra Health is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to maintain cleanliness in patient care areas using approved germicidal solutions. You will follow AIDET customer service principles and safety procedures while performing floor care, linen distribution, and routine cleaning tasks.

The role requires adherence to infection prevention precautions, proper PPE usage, and the ability to stock supplies and operate cleaning equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• No formal education required for minimum; high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Housekeeping experience in a health care setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and proper PPE usage.
• Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.

Responsibilities

• Complete cleaning and disinfecting in clinical and non-clinical areas.
• Gather supplies, stock carts, and maintain supply closets.

Job Description

The Environmental Services Technician performs a variety of housekeeping duties to maintain the facilities and patient care areas. Customer service is emphasized using the AIDET technique. The Environmental Services Technician is to maintain prescribed standards of cleanliness for assigned areas using germicidal solutions. Follows prescribed procedures and posted work schedules. Procedures may include utilizing chemicals and cleaning agents to maintain prescribed standards of cleanliness. Performs general cleaning consisting of floor cleaning emptying trash cleaning bathrooms including showers wiping down walls and cleaning windows. May also operate floor equipment to strip scrub and refinish floors shampoo carpets and clean baseboards.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to complete cleaning/disinfecting assignments in clinical and non-clinical areas.
• Demonstrates ability to gather appropriate cleaning supplies and stock cleaning cart and supply closet.
• Demonstrates ability to recognize Infection Prevention precautions signage and explain meaning of each.
• Demonstrates ability to don and doff appropriate PPE in the proper sequence.
• Demonstrates ability to identify and apply disinfectant to various surfaces for effective pathogen kill.
• Demonstrate knowledge about dwell time for disinfectants.
• Demonstrate ability to follow a defined cleaning process.
• Demonstrate adherence to safety protocols around waste handling, transport, and disposal.
• Demonstrate ability to follow duty assignments as assigned from their immediate supervisor.
• Demonstrate proficiency in floor care, linen distribution, and procedural areas.
• Demonstrate ability to utilize a mobile device for communication and completing duty assignments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $15.90 - $22.26 / Hour
