Overview

Environmental Services, Harvard, Full Time

Weekend Rotation

Responsible for total sanitation, floor care, preparation, and organization of patient rooms, floors, bed set-ups, and ancillary areas.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Thorough cleaning of assigned areas, including furniture, tile, fixtures, windows, sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, showers, etc.
• Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
• Follow isolation procedures and Infection Prevention Standards, using correct chemicals for different pathogens.
• Maintain EVS closet, cart, and equipment in a neat manner; report safety hazards or repairs needed.
• Replenish paper, soap, and hand sanitizer supplies.
• Hang cubicles/drapes per department policy.
• Coordinate special projects and communicate with affected departments.
• Move furniture, supplies, and equipment safely; seek assistance when needed.
• Properly mix and store chemicals; use PPE; follow safety protocols.
• Make beds according to specific needs; utilize bed tracking system; respond promptly to supervisor calls.
• Handle and dispose of waste properly, including hazardous and infectious waste; complete DOT Certification for regulated waste.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; previous cleaning experience helpful.

Physical Demands

This role involves very heavy work with repetitive motions, lifting up to 100 pounds, and various physical activities. Vision and other sensory abilities are required.
