Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center in Iowa is seeking an Environmental Services Tech to clean and disinfect patient care and public areas in line with cleanliness standards. You will support a safe, comfortable environment and help MercyOne's mission to improve health in the community.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and teamwork with colleagues. Work hours are 3:00 pm–11:30 pm with weekend and holiday rotation; a full benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Clean patient/resident rooms to maintain a sanitary environment.
• Clean administrative and support areas.
• Perform special cleaning tasks to keep work areas neat and ready for use.
• Keep equipment clean and organized, and ensure supply rooms are orderly.
• Support safety, security and efficiency within the department.
• Follow proper floor cleaning procedures and equipment care.

As an Environmental Services Tech at MercyOne, you will clean and disinfect the patient care areas and public areas of MercyOne Northeast Iowa in accordance with cleanliness standards. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

• Performs patient/resident room cleaning to ensure clean and sanitary environment.
• Performs cleaning in administrative and support areas.
• Performs special functions and requirements to ensure work area is maintained in a neat and
• orderly manner and available for use.
• Keeps equipment clean/cart and closet clean, orderly and operational.
• Contributes to the safety, security and efficiency of the department.
• Demonstrates proper floor cleaning procedures and proper equipment care.

Schedule

• 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm but can vary. Weekend and holiday rotation.

General Requirements

• Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians while performing their job duties.
• Mandatory Reporter. If driving, need valid Iowa driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
• Ability to work with a large degree of independence.
• Must display professional image.
• Ability to be sensitive to customer needs.
• Basic computer skills.
