Job summary

MercyOne Northeast Iowa is hiring an Environmental Services Tech to keep patient care areas and public spaces clean and disinfected according to hospital standards. You will support a safe, sanitary environment across MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center and affiliated clinics.

The role is full-time (32 hours/week), daytime shift, 6:30 am – 3:00 pm, with weekend and holiday rotation. Candidates should read and write English, work independently, and present a professional image while delivering

Qualifications

• Requires ability to read, write and understand English, and communicate with patients, visitors, staff and physicians.
• Must be able to work with a large degree of independence.
• Must display professional image and be sensitive to customer needs.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient/resident room cleaning to ensure a clean and sanitary environment.
• Performs cleaning in administrative and support areas.
• Maintains neat and orderly work areas including equipment and closets.

As an Environmental Services Tech at MercyOne, you will clean and disinfect the patient care areas and public areas of MercyOne Northeast Iowa in accordance with cleanliness standards. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

• Performs patient/resident room cleaning to ensure clean and sanitary environment.
• Performs cleaning in administrative and support areas.
• Performs special functions and requirements to ensure work area is maintained in a neat and
• orderly manner and available for use.
• Keeps equipment clean/cart and closet clean, orderly and operational.
• Contributes to the safety, security and efficiency of the department.
• Demonstrates proper floor cleaning procedures and proper equipment care.

Schedule:

• Full time .8 (32 hours per week)
• Day Shift
• 6:30 am – 3:00 pm but can vary. Weekend and holiday rotation.

General Requirements:

• Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians while performing their job duties.
• Mandatory Reporter. If driving, need valid Iowa driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
• Ability to work with a large degree of independence.
• Must display professional image.
• Ability to be sensitive to customer needs.
• Basic computer skills.
