Job summary

UPMC is seeking an Environmental Services Associate to help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. You will contribute to the quality of care by cleaning, disinfecting, and preparing rooms for new patients while following safety and infection control guidelines.

The role involves maintaining supplies and equipment, handling waste according to proper streams, and complying with privacy regulations. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

• Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management and infection control guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and maintain patient rooms, public areas and equipment following established procedures.
• Prepare rooms for new patients (including bed-making and discharge cleaning).
• Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management and infection control guidelines and standards while promoting a culture of safety.
• Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment.
• Remove waste and transport to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream handling.
• Recognize and adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
• May be asked to perform tasks according to various facility needs, including conference room set ups.
• Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do:

• Clean, disinfect, and maintain patient rooms, public areas and equipment following established procedures.
• Prepare rooms for new patients (including bed-making and discharge cleaning).
• Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management and infection control guidelines and standards while promoting a culture of safety.
• Maintain cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment.
• Remove waste and transport to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream handling (recycle, solid, hazardous etc.).
• Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
• May be asked to perform tasks according to various facility needs, including conference room set ups.
