Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three to five years of Environmental Services experience.
• Supervisory, leadership, or team management experience in Environmental Services, healthcare, hospitality, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, mentoring, and development of Environmental Services caregivers and Service Leaders.
• Foster caregiver engagement, accountability, retention, succession planning, and leadership development.
• Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring recommendations, promotions, performance evaluations, and quarterly check-ins.
• Coordinate orientation, onboarding, annual retraining, and completion of required organizational education.
• Coach team members on cleaning techniques, service standards, patient interactions, and hospitality behaviors aligned with ChristianaCare values.
• Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Lead daily operational huddles and communicate department goals, priorities, and safety initiatives.
• Manage staffing plans, schedules, vacation requests, holiday coverage, and payroll-related functions.
• Monitor bed tracking systems and ES response-time metrics to support patient throughput and efficiency.
• Oversee inventory management, supply utilization, equipment maintenance, and repair needs.
• Maintain records related to team performance, productivity, special projects, and work orders.
• Supervise subcontractors and external service providers as needed.
• Serve as a frontline leader for environmental infection prevention initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with disinfectant dwell times, cleaning standards, isolation protocols, and bloodborne pathogen requirements.
• Conduct environmental hygiene audits and validate cleaning/disinfection compliance.
• Partner with Infection Prevention, Nursing, Safety, and operations to reduce healthcare-associated infections.
• Lead readiness activities for Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and other regulatory surveys.
• Coordinate compliance monitoring, audits, corrective action plans, and regulatory preparedness.
• Conduct daily patient rounding to evaluate cleanliness and identify improvement opportunities.
• Respond to patient concerns with urgency and professional service recovery.
• Promote a hospitality-focused culture across Environmental Services operations.
• Review dashboards, quality indicators, productivity, patient satisfaction, safety, and financial performance.
• Develop and implement action plans to improve quality, efficiency, and engagement.
• Participate in budget and workforce planning; monitor labor productivity and expenses.
