Job summary

ChristianaCare is seeking an Environmental Services Assistant I for the Day shift (7:00 am – 3:30 pm) in Wilmington, DE. You will clean and disinfect patient areas, use PPE and chemicals safely, and support infection prevention while delivering outstanding patient-focused service.

This role requires ability to lift up to 40 pounds, strong teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Training and education opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Experience in environmental services or healthcare is helpful but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, isolation rooms, and high-touch areas.
• Use approved cleaning chemicals and PPE to ensure safety.
• Support infection prevention by following cleaning protocols.
• Deliver excellent customer service to patients and visitors.
• Identify and report safety or infection risks to leadership.
• Maintain cleaning carts and equipment in a ready-to-use state.
• Transport and dispose of waste safely and per regulations.
• Respond promptly to work requests and department communications.
• Report maintenance concerns and damaged equipment.
• Assist with ongoing environmental safety and regulatory readiness.
• Participate in required education and competency validation.
