Job summary

IHA in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a dedicated housekeeping aide to assist in daily planning and departmental activities, including orienting new colleagues and keeping supervisor informed of needs and issues. You will perform cleaning in patient rooms and ancillary areas to maintain a sanitary environment.

This full-time evening-shift role requires prior housekeeping experience, ability to train others, fluent English, and physical stamina to lift up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications

• Prior housekeeping experience required.
• Ability to train and orientate new colleagues.
• Must demonstrate the ability to speak, read, comprehend, and write the English language.
• Ability to maintain frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, pushing or pulling and to lift at least 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist supervisor with daily planning and activities of the department and orientate new colleagues.
• Keep supervisor informed of departmental activities, needs, and problems.
• Perform daily cleaning procedures in patient rooms and ancillary areas to maintain a sanitary environment.
• Complete cleaning requests for check-outs and transfers daily.
• Collect trash and soiled linen and transport to storage areas.
• Maintain furniture in patient rooms and offices in an orderly fashion and report repairs as needed.
• Maintain work areas, equipment, and supplies in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.

Keep supervisor informed of departmental activities, needs, and problems. Performs daily cleaning procedures in patient rooms and other ancillary areas in the hospital including nursing stations, restrooms, offices, etc., utilizing various tools, equipment and chemicals to maintain a sanitary environment. Completes cleaning requests for check-outs and transfers on a daily basis. Responsible for collecting trash and soiled linen to transport to the appropriate storage area. Maintains furniture in patient rooms, offices, and other ancillary areas in an orderly fashion, and observes equipment, furniture, etc., and reports necessary repair or replacement. Maintains work areas, equipment, and supplies in a clean, safe and orderly manner.
