Job summary

AdventHealth Calhoun is seeking a full-time Environmental Services Associate for a night shift (4pm-12:30am) to keep patient rooms, operating rooms, and public areas clean and safe in a hospital setting. This role emphasizes infection control, safe handling of materials, and courteous service to patients and staff while supporting departmental operations and ensuring a sanitary environment 24/7.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Healthcare environmental services experience preferred.
• Knowledge of infection control is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe, clean environment by cleaning patient rooms and facilities daily.
• Performs environmental duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash disposal.
• Demonstrates knowledge of infection control and proper operation of cleaning equipment.
• Responds promptly to overhead pages and emergencies while keeping carts secure.
• Stocks and maintains cleaning carts with supplies and moves to assigned areas.

Job Description

Work Schedule: 4pm- 12:30am.

• Maintains a safe, clean, and sanitary environment by cleaning patient rooms, operating rooms, public areas, restrooms, offices, and ancillary spaces daily.
• Performs environmental services duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wall washing, scrubbing, bed making, trash disposal, and linen collection.
• Demonstrates knowledge of infection control, isolation procedures, hazardous material handling, and proper operation of cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Responds promptly to overhead pages, emergency situations, and hazardous conditions while ensuring environmental services carts and closets remain secure.
• Stocks and maintains cleaning carts with necessary paper products and cleaning solutions while traveling to assigned areas and supporting departmental operations as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field Required
• Ability to maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition Required
• Able to communicate in English Required
• Basic computer skills and use of mouse and keyboard Required
• Must be able to operate a computer using standard office software Required
• Excellent customer service skills Required
• Ability to interact with patients Required
• Must be able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets, product labels, various reports, and perform basic arithmetic Required

• Environmental services experience within a healthcare environment Preferred

Education

• High School Grad or Equiv Preferred

Work Experience

• Housekeeping or custodial experience Preferred
